Press Release Body = A new study conducted at a major US supermarket chain store
showed that the use of Econofrost Reflective Night Covers reduced supermarket waste
by 75%. The produce department manager reported an "average decline in trim from one
barrel a day to one quarter barrel a day," eliminating produce losses of $50 to $65
per day and reducing labor needed to maintain produce displays. Researchers reported
that the store saved more than $8000 over a five month test period in the typical
large supermarket setting,

The test demonstrated how reducing the amount of produce trimmed from food displays
brought the store their return on investment in just over four months. The savings
gained by reducing waste alone exceeded the full cost of the Econofrost installation

The supermarket studied has Econofrost night curtains installed in mostly 8 foot
cassette units over 216 feet of coolers for produce, meat, deli, dairy and egg
display cases, and seafood freezers. The produce department consists of a 60 foot
wet case lineup flanked by two 16 foot unirrigated wet racks.
